Juan Emilio Izquierdo, an MLEC alumnus, died this past Wednesday after suffering extensive injuries due to a collision.

Juan was riding his motorcycle on Biscayne Boulevard at Northeast 126th street when he collided with a Volkswagen Beetle. Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of the accident around 6 p.m. and he was pronounced dead at 7:29 p.m. after being flown to Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Juan was only 21 years old.

He is remembered by his family and friends as caring, loving, and active.

“He always was doing something. He loved climbing to the top of where we were hiking and looking back on all that he had accomplished,” said longtime friend, Stephen Scott, who had known Izquierdo for 4 years.

His family is holding a memorial service in honor of the good man he was and of the memories he leaves behind on Thursday, July 10th at Vista Memorial Gardens.
