Summer gives people the opportunity to have more freedom and time together. If that’s true, why do so many couples break up over vacation?
School provides a way for couples to see each other on a daily basis, which can be key in a relationship. But now that school’s out, here are a few tips on how to survive the summer with your boyfriend or girlfriend.
Communicate
This one is pretty obvious, but it still needs to be said. If you or your significant other travels internationally, it can be difficult to communicate (especially on cruise ships or countries with no internet connection), but you can take it back to the old times and send a post card or a letter.
If you two aren’t traveling anywhere and aren’t busy, talks can go from exciting to boring, and the relationship may fizzle out. To prevent this, hang out with other friends or couples and enjoy your time together as friends. Minimize PDA, make jokes, and talk as a group.
We’re in the 21st century, and distance should never be a problem; there’s Skype, FaceTime, Oovoo, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. Socializing with someone daily will make it feel as though they are still there.
Keep The Romance Alive
Romance can die out and, during the summer, it’s bound to happen. Romantic gestures are a must. It’s as easy as taking your partner out on a picnic at a park with a view or even taking him or her to ride bikes, kayak, canoe, jog, eat, and just walk and talk.
People tend to think that being romantic is doing something crazy and out of the box, but that’s not true. It’s the thought that counts, and something simple can demonstrate that!
Alone Time
As well as spending time with you boyfriend or girlfriend, allow some time for yourself. Seeing someone everyday can get tiring, and you’ll lose the spark quickly. Hang out with your friends and do your own thing. By doing that, you’ll miss your partner and enjoy their company even more!
Summer is about having fun, so that’s the key. If you’re not having fun, mix things up a little. If you have any other tips or ideas, tweet @TheHarbinger so we can retweet you!
