Senior Brunch Fashion for Him: From Dressing Like Boys To Men

By Abigail Rosales

Before beginning to plan any outfit, the three most important fundamentals are: time, location, and colors (T.L.C.). Consider the time of day and location. There are two entirely different color palettes regarding daytime and evening outfits. The location is also very important, it establishes the type of attire, ambiance, and vibe that you want to achieve.

Boys have had their outfits prepped for them —   coordinated and laid out on their beds — since the beginning of time. Unfortunately, at some point mothers across the world call it quits; then, it’s time for boys to become men. That’s right — the moment boys have to dress THEMSELVES for outings, those are the beginning steps towards manhood.

Boys, Senior Brunch is almost here. The time has come, to dress like men.

For something like a brunch, which is only becoming more prevalent as spring approaches, it’s important to choose the perfect outfit. Brunch is the type of event that calls for a light and easy color palette, casual but dressy attire with an edge.

Let’s start off with the colors and patterns that would best complement the look. Colors like blue, yellow, mint green, and pinks are best suited for this event. Patterns like paisley, leaves, and even flowers and animal prints can be pulled off well. However, it’s a more forward choice.

Neutrals (white, black, beige, etc.) are always safe, and they don’t have to be boring; in fact, they can be the foundation for any outfit. Pair a white shirt with a colorful pant, or a bright yellow shirt with a grey pant, aren’t too bold but still, look great as a daytime outfit.

For a daytime event — like brunch — it’s best to choose shirts of a lighter shade, like pastel colors. Bottoms can range anywhere from dark colors to lighter tones, however that depends on the shirt chosen. Therefore, when beginning an outfit, first decide what shirt is going to be worn.

Something like a neutral colored shirt will pair best with khaki dress pants or colored pants — different shades of blue (NOT DENIM) or pink, like a salmon color. Avoid wearing pants that are navy or black with a neutral shirt or else it’ll look more like an office look, rather than a pleasant brunch.

If the goal is a bold colored shirt, keep the bottoms simple since there’s a lot of commotion going on up top. In this case, black pants will be a good choice.

Shoes are the easiest to pick once the rest of the outfit is assembled. Dress shoes are always a nice option, but the best color for dress shoes here, would be brown or maybe a light blue. Something like boat shoes or loafers are always good alternatives as well; they’re the perfect balance of casual and dressy.

Boys, let your mother know that their work is done and you are officially certified to put an outfit together. Always remember T.L.C. — time, location, and colors.
