How to Celebrate the Super Bowl

By Malique Lewis

The Super Bowl is one of the biggest competitive events of the year.

Each year, millions of people gather in different ways—parties, at restaurants, at their houses—to watch the long-waited game. Watching the game (even when one doesn’t understand what’s happening) has become an American Tradition—and every year, everyone partakes in it.

And this year, for football fanatics in Miami, the Super Bowl is even more special: it will be held right in our backyard at the HardRock Stadium.

Miami is known for hosting the most Super Bowls due to the amazing weather and the amazing scenery.

But for the people that live here, if your not in the Super Bowl Stadium here are some of the best ways to take part in the festivities.

Party With Friends

One way that many people celebrate and partake in the Super Bowl is to spend time with friends and family by throwing a gathering, or a party.

Buy some food, barbecue, get beverages, and sit in front of the TV to get a front row seat of the game.

There’s still time to text a couple of friends, make a quick trip to Walmart or Publix and buy a couple of snacks and beverages—it is never too late for that.

Throwing a barbecue is always a good way to go for, well, everything.

“I don’t know about this year, but every year we throw a gathering with food, drinks, and the whole family’s invited. It’s just a time where we can all come together and enjoy something great,” said MLEC Senior Rashard Dyer.

For many, this option is the best one—that way, you can avoid the Super Bowl traffic that is to be expected today.

Restaurants and More

To celebrate this event, restaurants like Chili’s or Red Lobster will be open.

Almost all restaurants will be open due to this being a major event. Most of them have televisions where the guests can watch sporting events and enjoy themselves while partaking in a good meal as well.

You can go to places like Dolphin Mall too to watch the game, where they are known for putting important events like the Super Bowl in all of their televisions.

If you decide to go to a specific restaurant in which one can make reservations, make sure you call to assure you and your family and friends have a spot at the place. Traffic is going to be extra hectic today so make sure you get early to wherever you want to go.

“Last year my family and I went to a restaurant and we just enjoyed in the Super Bowl, it was a lot of people in there and it was a fun and energetic place to be on a day such as the Super Bowl,” said MLEC Senior Jalen Forbes.

The Super Bowl is a time where people come together either at a party, a restaurant—and even at home as well.

Staying Home by Yourself Also Works!

If there’s not a party or a gathering, just watching it by yourself with a home cooked meal and few snacks will still perfectly do.

Traffic will be very hectic for those that live in the area of the Super Bowl, so leaving home can be a time consuming act—and since many are going to parties and gather with friends, traffic all over Miami is simply expected to be hectic.

Staying home and watching it on TV can still be as enjoyable as going out.

Simply Enjoy the #SuperBowlLIV!

There’s a lot to look forward to during the Super Bowl, especially during halftime; it’s not just football, but it’s entertainment as a whole as music and dancing will be a part of the festivities as well.

It’s one of the biggest events in the world, and whether your at a gathering or a restaurant or just at home, make sure to tune into America’s biggest event— the Super Bowl, which will be in just a couple of hours.
