Every year, MLEC’s walls are covered with campaign posters during election season, urging onlookers that ‘it’s time for change’ or to ‘vote for me.’
This year, like previous years, was intense. Candidates, despite having less time to campaign, went all out to get voters: from passing out sugary snacks to giving out things for people to wear to spamming social media with their photos.
By using social media, candidates were able to campaign during, before, and after school, and even throughout spring break.
The winners for Student Government Association, the organization in charge of coordinating events for the whole school and standing alongside MLEC’s adults to ensure that the whole school’s voices are heard, are as follows: President Luis Machicote, Vice President Rachel Rnoh, Treasurer Ricardo Romero, and for Secretary Tatiana Alectine.
The new officers for the Class of 2015’s office, which will take charge of coordinating senior events for the current juniors, are: President Sana Chaudhry, Vice President Ruth Reyes, Treasurer Alejandra Mendoza, and Secretary Mindy Lee.
The sophomores elected for Class of 2016’s office, which will help coordinate junior activities, such as the ring ceremony, are: President Elizabeth Martinez, Vice President Karina Medina, Treasurer A’kyra Bodden, and Secretary Angie Suarez.
For the Class of 2017, which will take care of events for the current freshmen, the new officers are: President Nicole Sandoval, Vice President Linney Osias, Treasurer Max Melendez, and Secretary Juanita Cardona.
Congratulations to all the new officers and to all who ran!
