New Year, New Events: How to Celebrate New Year’s Eve on a Budget

By Daniel Gonzalez

With New Year’s Eve approaching, “Where should we go?” is a question that comes to many people’s minds as they try to scramble for a fun and exciting place to spend the night.

Luckily in Miami, the streets and cities are always bustling with different activities to partake in.

And for those that are still undecided, here is a little rundown of some of the options one might enjoy during New Year’s Eve.

The City of Miami Beach’s NYE Celebration

The City of Miami Beach is hosting its annual New Year’s Eve celebration free of charge at 9th street and Ocean Drive. There will be music and live performances by the ocean side, so one can enjoy the large firework display at midnight with their feet in the sand or taking a swim.

“The Big Orange” Drop

But for those who prefer to stay a bit drier and don’t want sand getting stuck in their shoes, downtown Miami will be having “The Big Orange” drop. It will be at Bayfront Park and have dance parties with live music along with a countdown to the New Year hosted by Pitbull where they wait as a gigantic neon sign of an orange with sunglasses rises to the top of the InterContinental Miami Hotel. The best part is that the entrance is free, except for VIP or a front row seat.

Wynwood’s NYE

Wynwood is also celebrating NYE free of charge. Walk the streets of Wynwood and enjoy not only the beautiful artwork, shops, and restaurants, but the fire eaters, artists, dancers, and live musicians coming out to make the night that much more special.
