The newly renovated ‘La Vaquita’ has become a local hot spot in Miami for its homemade Cuban-style meals, eco-friendly environment, and decor. Since Miami is known for its diverse cultures and mixture of caribbean cuisine, the recent addition to the Miami Lakes neighborhood is all the locals rave about.
NQC supplies two menus: one for healthy food and one for Cuban comfort food. From the Media Noche sandwich to the House Churros, this restaurant has exceeded the expectations of many. They also have a downloadable app for smartphones if waiting in the car isn’t your forte.
When visiting the former Farm Store, the Spanish empanadas are a must-have. The crunchy shell surrounding the inner mix of chorizo and smoked ham is a perfect blend that left us wanting more. If your stomach isn’t satisfied and is craving something more fulfilling, then the Tex-Mex Chicken Picadillo offers the taste of a true homemade Cuban meal. With its slow cooked chicken over the soft grains of the brown rice and a spoonful of avocado, this dish had us savoring every bite more than the last.
After indulging in such a hearty meal, a cold batido de trigo is enough to have anyone feeling refreshed. The combination of the puff wheat cereal, whole milk, and sugar, goes perfectly with the Media Noche sandwich. The toasted cuban bread mixed with pork, smoked ham, swiss cheese, mayo, and mustard is ideal for a quick bite after a long day.
To top off any meal, the House Churros are a divine choice for dessert. The crunchy texture and soft filling distinguish these churros from any other dry, over-powdered dessert one could find.
However, despite the mouth watering dishes and the quick service, the one downside to NQC is that there is only an eating area on Saturdays. This means you are either left sitting in your car eating or having to rush home before the food gets cold the rest of the week, but NQC is still a must-try for their authentic Hispanic experience.
