Miami’s Wynwood Art District is packed full of museums, collections, art galleries, and street displays. Each year the Wynwood Life festival draws tons of locals to the area to experience the beauty of art, food, music, and fashion. This year’s Wynwood Life festival is being held from April 20th through the 22nd.
On any given day Wynwood’s kinetic and inspiring vibes make it quite the recreational destination, but when this three day festival hits town, the excitement definitely escalates. Hosted by Swarm event agency and sponsored by several South Florida businesses and even large companies, the festival features the artwork of a plethora of local painters and artisans. Festival goers can visit the Back Alley and watch street artists paint live every day of the event.
There’s also the Art House pop-up gallery where you can check out some selected pieces by a few of Miami’s best. The festival also offers the opportunity for emerging artists to present their work in a competition put on by Miami Art & Design Education. Winning artists will be given the chance to paint live at the event, display their work in WYN317 pop-up gallery, and win a $50 gift certificate to ID Art Supply.
The Wynwood Life festival also allows for the display of art in the form of music. Upon arriving at NW 2nd avenue you can feel the music pulsating from the heart of the festival: the music stage. This year over 20 bands and DJs are scheduled to hold it down over the course of the festival and there will even be an international music performance.
Apart from scheduled performers those stopping by the Life festival cna also enjoy the raw talent of street musicians hammering away at makeshift drum sets and the like. The Wynwood Life festival presents so much room for spontaneity and fresh experiences. The city itself allows for a pretty large margin of error, so to speak. If you wonder outside of the festival you fall into the adventure of the city living and breathing all around, its streets, its walls, its people.
Festival goers can also delve into the culinary and fashion sides of the arts at the Kitchen Lab and food truck area as well as the Style Lounge. Chefs prepare appetizing dishes in front of a hyped up crowd at the Kitchen Lab, you can choose from several styles of international cuisine at the food truck lot, and the Style Lounge will be hosting fashion shows featuring local brands throughout the festival.
Attending the festival is a great experience and it doesn’t cost much either. Entry is free and for just a few bucks you can enjoy some delicious local food. The Wynwood Life festival is definitely worth it if you’re looking for an interesting spring endeavor.
