Spring Cleaning Your Life

Spring Cleaning Your Life

By Abigail Rosales

Spring is here, which means it’s time for spring cleaning; however, this isn’t just about the overflowing drawers in your room or your disorganized closet. It’s time to get rid of all the toxic, and the no-good in your life.

Whether you developed new friendships or relationships at the start of 2018, or had some lingering for years, if they’ve grown toxic or difficult to maintain, it’s time to let them go. Any type of negativity in your life it only holds you back. The aura you surround yourself with, the environment you put yourself in, and the people you have around you reflect the person you are, and what you bring to the table.

If you let these negative people remain, your personality will begin to change from optimistic to pessimistic, and you will turn any positive situation that presents itself into a negative. No need to turn something great into something terrible. If someone is in your life, and they’re not bringing anything beneficialmaking you more stressed, making situations difficult, or making you unhappy—it’s time to cut them off.

Relationships won’t be the only thing getting cleaned out, but old feelings will be, too. No good comes from lingering around the same old person forever, and the feelings will only hold you back from something that has the potential to be great. Don’t miss that chance, because you’re holding onto something that’s not worth it anymore.

Your mental stability is also a big deal; it won’t always be about other people, sometimes it’s about yourself. Don’t allow your mental stability to crumble because you’re stressed about something. Whether it’s school or work, try to take it slow, and avoid asking for more than you can handle.

School and work have their time and place, but there’s also time to take a break, breathe a little, and let your brain rest. Even if it’s only for a few minutes, you’ll appreciate it later on. Your mental health is more important than anything else that has the potential to drive you crazy.

Always remember what’s most important is yourself. Work hard to become the person you wish to be; work hard to be happy with the person you are, and, above anything else, work hard to get what you deserve. If it means cutting people out of your life, or taking a break from school or work, then do so.

This spring, clean out your life. Once all is done, not only will the flowers be blooming, but so will you.
