5 Activities to Distract Singles on Valentine’s Day

By Rozany Guzman

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, couples are making reservations to their favorite restaurants, parents are searching for affordable babysitters, and teens are buying Valentine grams at school. However, there are some people who won’t be enjoying this celebration: the singles.

With all the activities going on solely for couples, there is no doubt that singles would be having a hard time finding out what to do on February 14. No need to worry, here’s a list of activities to distract the lonely hearts on Valentine’s Day.

Treat yourself.

Be independent. Valentine’s Day always leaves one feeling bummed out and self-conscious. Going to the store, and buying all that you deserve is the perfect way to spend the day without needing a partner to do it for you.

Have a movie marathon featuring your celebrity crush.

Spending time with your true (on-screen) love will forever make up for your loneliness. Nothing’s better than binge-watching a whole series of movies and shows without needing to pay attention, or worry about anything else.

Read a good book.

Not everyone can have the cliché love stories found in books and movies, so why not drown yourself in words instead of tears? A good book will have the power to transport someone to a whole other world; it can be romantic, adventurous, or a comedy.

Find out what you want.

Having a whole day dedicated to a romantic relationship with a partner is certainly heartbreaking if you’re single. Instead of moping around and depriving yourself of happiness, think of what you actually want. There is a saying: There are plenty of fish in the sea. Think of which kind of fish you actually want in life instead of going out on a whim to find someone.

Although Valentine’s Day seems to be all about romantic couples having their moment, singles could still enjoy themselves. A partner or significant other isn’t required to make February 14 worthwhile. Make the day your own, and show the world you don’t need someone else to make you feel happy.
