What a match-up in dead: the number 1 Defensive team vs. the number 1 Offensive team in the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos went head to head in Metlife Stadium to see who will be named Super Bowl XLVIII Champions. Having won 43-8 the Seattle Seahawks gave the Denver Broncos a run for their money. Here are some of the highlights of this phenomenal game.

1^st Quarter

Kick off and the Denver Broncos are stopped just shy of the 15 yard line. Miscommunication between Payton Manning and his team, a Safety occurs and the Seattle Seahawks are in the lead 2-0 early into the game. Denver punts the ball and on Seattle’s first drive they score a 31 field goal, putting them in the lead 5-0. Denver’s turn at the offense but couldn’t make it past the 40 yard line, forced to punt the ball. The Seattle Seahawks came close to scoring a touchdown, but close isn’t good enough, except for another field goal. Seattle extended their lead to 8-0. It was now Denver’s chance to redeem themselves; however, Payton Manning threw his first interception of the night, leaving them scoreless in the 1^st quarter.

2^nd Quarter

The Seattle Seahawks start off the second quarter with a Rushing touchdown, extending their lead to 15-0 at the start of the 2^nd quarter. Denver, looking for a chance to score in this game, was pouring everything they had to be on the scoreboard. The Seattle defense secured Payton Manning tightly in the pocket, forcing him to throw the ball instead of being sacked and losing yards for his team. The football landing in the hands of a Seahawk and Malcolm Smith ran all the way to score the team’s second touchdown, extending the Seattle Seahawks lead to 22-0. The Denver Broncos, on a 4^th down and 2, weren’t able to score by the end of the second quarter, leaving the game 22-0 with the Seahawks in the lead.

Halftime Show: Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers

Lights, singing, action! The beginning to “Billionaire” was serenaded to the crowd by a group of children up until the main artist of the night came on – Bruno Mars. A rock-n-roll style drum solo pumped up the crowd as Bruno Mars was getting his vocal ready to sing his number 1 hits. Starting off signing “Locked Out Of Heaven”, he sang his way through “Treasure” and “Runaway Baby” with some old school ‘60s dancing. Popping up from behind the drummer, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers – Red Hot Chili Peppers – came on. Singing “Give it Away” they had the crowd jumping on their feat the entire time. Closing off the Halftime Show with a tribute to our soldiers overseas, Bruno Mars sang “Just The Way You Are” with a firework show lighting up the night sky.

3^rd Quarter

Twelve seconds into the 3^rd quarter, Percy Harvin ran an 87-yard touchdown, his first of the night and third for the team overall. Payton Manning, repeatedly tried over and over again to score. For a moment it seemed like they had the chance, but a wide receiver from the Denver Broncos dropped the ball, handing it to the Seattle Seahawks. That play gave the Seahawks another touchdown in the game, extending their lead to 36-0. When it seemed like all hope was lost, the Denver Broncos made their first touchdown of the night along with a 2-point conversion. Denver finally got on the board at the end of the third quarter 36-8.

4^th Quarter

In the hopes in pulling off a surprise offside kick, the Denver Broncos’ plans backfired as the Seattle Seahawks got the ball at about the 50-yard line. And with that another touchdown was made on Seattle’s end, in the lead now by 43-8. Denver fumbles the ball, to which Seattle gain. No more scores were made for the rest of the game and the Seattle Seahawks win 43-8.
