Back in January Trump had a call with Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto, and Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull, that was recently leaked to the public a few days ago. Among the topics discussed in the call, the fact that president Donald Trump called New Hampshire a “drug-infested den,” was one that sent shock waves across the nation.
With Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto, Trump had an intense conversation in which Trump repeatedly threatened Peña Nieto that he would impose a stiff border tax to keep Mexicans out, especially those that were smuggling drugs into the United States. Trump reinstated what he had said back in February that, “Drugs are becoming cheaper than candy bars and easier to purchase and get a hold of.”
Trump had also warned Peña Nieto to stop announcing publicly that he would not be paying any part of the wall Trump was announcing in his campaign. Trump reminded him that if he continued to do so he would not be able to contact with that country again.
“If you are going to say that Mexico is not going to pay for the wall, then I do not want to meet with you guys anymore because I cannot live with that,” Mr. Trump stated according to the New York Times.
Even so, the call with the Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull, was even more intense as Trump proclaimed in the call that he was disgusted with the previous deal he had made with President Barack Obama. He said that the deal is “stupid” and that it would make him look bad.
For those who don’t know what the deal consisted of: President Barack Obama and the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull agreed that the United States would consider accepting up to 1,250 economic refugees.
As Turnbull tried to explain that this deal went hand in hand and consistent with the travel ban and that it was really important for his country, Trump abruptly said that he has had enough with the unpleasant conversation and ended the call.
In two phone calls, Trump once again offended and tried to control what other countries were doing and would want to do for the country all the while offending his own constituents along the way.
