The red sea of republicans can be seen for miles, lending the sound of their almost never-ending ovation to the melody sung by Missouri State University’s 50-member Chorale— a list of musicians are opposed to singing in honor of Trump’s inauguration. They sang a song with a message of togetherness, “Now We Belong,” as the crowd, the soon to be Vice-President Mike Pence, and President-elect Donald Trump sway to the music.
Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, can be seen sitting in the row directly behind him in a baby blue dress with Barron, Trump’s ten year-old son.
Soon after the song comes to an end, the time for Mike Pence to be sworn into office arrives. Pence stands tall in the cold January weather, and with a face bearing sheer confidence, he recites the inauguration speech and makes his position as Vice President of the United States official.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir performs and it’s now Donald Trump’s turn. One hand lays on both his family bible and the Abraham Lincoln Bible while the other is raised in the air as it is time for him to swear his loyalty and faith to the country.
“I, Donald John Trump, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” he says.
These are perhaps the most momentous words to be spoken at the inauguration.
Hugs, kisses, smiles, and handshakes are exchanged between family, friends, and the past and present leaders of America. Donald Trump is now officially the 45th President of the United States of America.
As president, Trump will now begin his inauguration speech as many presidents have done for decades before him.
“Every four years, we gather on these steps to carry out the orderly and peaceful transfer of power, and we are grateful to President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for their gracious aid throughout this transition. They have been magnificent. Thank you.”
During the 16 minute long speech, rain began to fall. The speech continued.
“Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning because today, we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the people….Together, we will make America strong again. We will make America wealthy again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And yes, together we will make America great again.”
For the sake of their country, the citizens of the United States of America hope that the promises made by the new President Donald Trump for a greater America, for everyone, will be fulfilled during his time in office.
