MTV’s Video Music Awards (VMAs) is an annual event that brings excitement to viewers and attendees alike with jaw-dropping performances and unforgettable moments. The event always captivates the media’s attention as dozens of celebrities make headlines. This year the award show took place on August 28 and proved to be no different with its many noteworthy moments. 

Beyonce Slays Once Again

From her performance to her flawless red carpet appearance, Queen B dominated the stage with her fiery attitude and vivid choreography. She performed songs from her album, Lemonade, which earned her many awards that night.

Her red carpet appearance received positive feedback from critics as well as her fans. Blue Ivy, her daughter, accompanied her as she walked the red carpet in a $11,000 gown accompanied by a diamond crown.

Michael Phelps Olympic-Winning Stink Face

Rio 2016 was yet another amazing year for Phelps in his long trajectory as a professional swimmer, however, the face he pulled at one of his events caught the attention of viewers, resulting in many memes.

As he introduced rapper and singer, Future, he revealed that he gets inspiration before races by listening to hip hop. According to him, the famous stink face was thanks to “Stick Talked”— a song in Future’s album DS2.

Drake and Rihanna Love Story

This year’s VMAs centered around everyone’s favorite pair, rapper Drake and singer Rihanna. In previous years they’ve been rumored to be in a relationship but it was only rumors until this year when they showed major PDA on stage.

Drake presented an award to Rihanna before confessing his feelings towards her: “she is someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old.”

Their relationship remains a fan-favorite, however, it is still not confirmed if they are indeed a couple or just continuing these flirtatious interactions as a publicity stunt.

Britney Spears Comeback: Successful or a Fail?

Britney Spears is known for having amazing choreography when performing at the VMAs. Most memorable is when she sang with Madonna and Christina Aguilera and when she included a wild animal in her choreography.

However, this year critics have different views towards her comeback. Her performance this year did not turn many heads. Maybe it’s because people were still in awe from Beyonce’s performance or because, according to viewers, her lip syncing was very noticeable.
