The Miami Heat are Adapting

By Melissa Ricardo

This new season the Heat have changed their line-up, opting for a starting line-up that may lack their star player, Chris Bosh. The Miami Herald reported Chris Bosh could possibly miss the remainder of the season after developing blood clots in his lungs last month.

The Heat confirmed on Thursday that Bosh had been admitted to a Miami-area hospital to undergo multiple medical tests. Although these test originally produced inconclusive results, blood clots were later discovered.

Dwyane Wade and several other Heat players have said that Chris Bosh’s current condition with his blood clots is better than it was in the previous season, and they’re hopeful he can get back on the court at some point during this season. If the Heat decides to rule out Bosh for the rest of the season, that would mean he’d be unable to take part in basketball-related activities for up to three to six months.

In order to recover, Bosh will most likely need to miss the rest of the season while being treated with blood thinners. There is a total of 30 games remaining in the regular season and seeing as how the 10-time All-Star signed a guaranteed five-year, $118 million contract in July this will take a toll on his career.

Chris Bosh’s absence has left many with to question on who will take his place. Al Horford, who is currently in route to Toronto, will be an injury replacement for Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh and join teammate Paul Millsap on the East roster.

This will be Horford’s fourth trip to the NBA All-Star Game. He was a back-to-back selection during the 2010 and 11 seasons and was one of four Atlanta Hawks players named to last year’s East squad.
