This past year fell victim to a number of cliché horror movies and crude attempts at comedies. As 2016 begins, highly anticipated films are already scheduled for release to make up for last year’s movies that were not worth buying tickets and a large popcorn.
Around the corner is the new adaptation of The Jungle Book, taken from the Rudyard Kipling novel. This live-action motion picture is scheduled for theaters on April 15, 2016. It plays on Disney’s traditional story about an orphan boy raised by a pack of wolves.
Save the date for May 6, when you will be able to see the familiar faces of Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johannson, and more. The third Captain America film—Captain America: Civil War—will transpire one year after the events of Avengers: The Age of Ultron.
Everyone’s favorite blue reef fish is coming back on June 17 in Finding Dory, more than 13 years after the original film: Finding Nemo. Ellen DeGeneres voices the titular amnesiac, who after a sleepwalking episode, begins to remember the whereabouts of her family. The familiar pair of clownfishes–Marlin and Nemo–accompany her on her journey.
Months later, on August 5, is Warner Bros Suicide Squad, based off of the DC comics. A group of antiheroes–including the Joker, Harley Quinn, and Deadshot–are granted leniency from prison and the infamous Arkham Asylum as long as they achieve their dangerous black ops assignments.
Finally is the next full-blown Disney princess movie. Moana will be released on November 23. The movie takes the name of the main character, who will debut as Disney’s first Polynesian princess; this film hopes to be as popular as Frozen.
Start saving up popcorn money and call up your friends to agree on a date where everyone is free. Also, make sure to take your student ID to get a special discount on your tickets. This year is certain to host a couple of worthy movies.
