Roblox is a global platform that allows people to create, share, and play millions of games made by diverse developers. With millions of user-created games, it offers infinite opportunities accessible to various devices, including Personal Computers (PCs), mobile devices, consoles, and Virtual Reality (VR) platforms.
“I would say that I like and enjoy playing Roblox and enjoy how diverse and varied the game is. It sounds great that Roblox is letting young people get a chance to win something that can positively influence them,” said freshman Keisy Arias.
This year, Roblox has launched “The Hunt: Mega Edition,” an innovative event offering the ultimate winner a $1,000,000 grand prize. The competition, which began March 13, 2025, will run through until March 24 and challenges all players to complete different quests within specific Roblox experiences. In these 25 specific experiences, each completed quest rewards players with a token, which can be used to unlock rewards in-game from the event hub.
The top 10 players on the leaderboard by the end of the event will be invited to compete in the “The Hunt: Mega Final”, a live-streamed mega showdown at Roblox’s headquarters in San Mateo, California, on April 4th, 2025. The finalist who outperforms the rest will be awarded the million-dollar grand prize.
Players must be at least 13 years old to participate in this event. Additionally, players aged between 13-17 will require parental consent to participate. If a minor qualifies for the finals, a parent or guardian must accompany them to the Roblox Headquarters in California. Participation is free for all and based solely on raw skills.
Example Quest & Strategies
In the game “Treasure Quest,” players are tasked with finding five hidden artifacts scattered throughout the Roblox world. When all artifacts are found, players receive tokens and special in-game items, such as a limited-edition virtual sword.
Many strategies for success in this event include planning, collaboration, and time management. Players can prioritize quests based on difficulty. They can also team up with friends to defeat challenging quests. Finally, players can allocate specific times for different experiences to keep progressing through the event.
Possible Concerns & Setbacks
Because this may be a life-changing opportunity for many, some worry that people will take drastic measures to try to win. This could make the game and challenge unenjoyable. They believe exploiters will attempt to find ways to cheat the system and hack their way to victory.
Another potential downfall could be the reaction of the competitors. For example, if a person reaches the top 10 and does not win the grand prize, they may subject the winner to violent behavior. Kids ages 13-17 are allowed to participate, but their immaturity raises the odds of emotional outbursts. Many people take this competition extremely seriously, which is why everyone participating should tread cautiously and stay alert for violent behavior.
“I don’t like Roblox at all. It sounds like a publicity stunt to get more young players on their platform; at the end of the day, they profit even more by selling children the dream of winning 1 million dollars. I won’t participate in this event. An event of this size means that competition is fierce, and any real chances of winning for the casual gamer are close to zero,” said junior Luis Fernandez.
With a great prize at the end, “The Hunt: Mega Edition” has gained significant attention amongst the Roblox community. As the competition continues, players worldwide are challenged to showcase their skills and talents to gain a life-changing reward. For more information, visit Roblox’s website.
