At the end of every year, Spotify, one of the most famous streaming services, allows its users’ to view their top songs and favorite artists of the year through an interactive feature. But now that 2019–the last year of the decade–is almost coming to a close, Spotify decided to do something special for their users–and so far, people are loving it..
At the click of a button, you can access your most-listened-to tracks of 2019 and the decade using Spotify’s “Wrapped” tool. “Spotify Wrapped” allows users to see (according to statistics) their top artists of 2019, their top songs of the year, and how, as each season passed, their music style changed.
This gives Spotify users the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane and look back on what they listened to and what they were feeling while listening to it.
But besides wrapping up your 2019, the feature also wraps up one’s most-listened-to artists, the tool does the same for the decade: with a click, one can see one’s most-streamed artist of the decade, and one’s top song and artist through the years. With this feature–which everyone has been excited to use–gives Spotify users the ability to relive memories through music, helping them see how they’ve evolved as a person over the years.
Spotify Wrapped” has been a huge success since it first began in 2015 as ‘Year in Music,’ which was a card that included the user’s first played song, top artists by season, total minutes of music listened to, and some other information. But this year, the app has taken the internet by surprise with the Decade-Wrapped feature: users are taking to social media to share their Spotify Wrapped.
“This is my Spotify Wrapped for the year,” wrote Natalia Gameros, a Miami Lakes Educational Center (MLEC) student on her Instagram page with her followers. Gameros wasn’t the only student to do this–mostly everyone was talking about their Spotify Wrapped today at school.
The hype has been everywhere. It’s been shared all across social media, including Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. It was even trending on Twitter, one of the biggest social media platforms.
The students at MLEC have been talking about it nonstop. And along with our jaguars the rest of the world, thanks to Spotify Wrapped, is able to revisit moments in their lives that they will never get back again otherwise.
