As the lights of the prom scene dim, and conversation commences amongst seniors and their partners, the eyes of everyone wander, and identify that most well-dressed individuals in the dance hall.

These seniors are showing up to show off, to look the best on the best night of their accumulated four years of high school. For the men attending the event, there’s a lot more to work with in 2018 than the black-and-white tux.

However, there is most definitely nothing wrong with popping the good ol’ fashioned tux seen in the movies. Just make sure to take a warm shower, and take a close and clean shave, to feel brand new.

Now, for those of you who intend on impressing everyone else, and more importantly yourself, there are three directions to go in: a glamourous selection, the “flex” fit, or the polarizing eyecatcher.

“If your outfit receives negative feedback, you’re doing something right,” said Zamier Nicholas, a senior at Miami Lakes Educational Center.

For those of a more fashion forward background, the glamourous direction is most ideal. This style encompasses a color palette consisting of sleek and elegant tones that compliment your skin tone. Whether it be through a complex pattern piece that’s layered on the most delicate of fabric, or an simple sleek two-toned suit, these are the outfits that get the applause.

As for those who, like most of the new generation, find appeal in name brands, and luxury, there is the assortment of options ranging from an all Louis Vuitton, or an all Gucci down to the shoes outfit, to a Chanel, or Saint Laurent selection. These options would encompass the “flex” fit, centered around wearing flashy brands that cost a pretty penny.

There are those that chose to pursue shock value over style, something either so obscene, or rare that everyone can’t help but look. This could encompass anything from a pair of Balenciaga’s, to a piece of urban functional wear. The goal is simple: look out of place.

Fashion forward or not, looking the way you think looks good should be the goal. Whether that look is the look of being out of place, luxurious, stylish, or simply traditional is up to you.
