While last Thursday was merely the highly anticipated day before Spring Break for most, for the Class of 2019, however, it was a stepping stone. After three years, the Junior Ring Ceremony is the moment that the Juniors have all been waiting for.
As soon as the doors opened, parents, families, and friends piled into the gymnasium where it was soon filled with loud uproars as they watch their child take the next step in becoming upperclassmen.
The regular sweaty gym was transformed into the beautiful arena, covered in the class colors red and black. Students then walked in a long progression from the back of the gym, strutting in with their dashing outfits.
The night began with Ms.Whitby, the Class of 2019 sponsor, introducing the juniors to their ring ceremony.
It was later followed by the class officers stating the history of the ring and the importance of the event. Shortly after, our principal Ms.Diaz took the podium to welcome the family and friends present as well as to congratulate the students.
One by one, students received their rings and enjoyed their 10 seconds of fame when walking under the giant silver ring. Every junior had their moment in the spotlight and each one presented themselves well.
Once the class was seated, Ms.Diaz had the juniors pull out their rings and with the count of three, they were then declared upperclassmen, thus dethroning the seniors of this year.
Parents and siblings jumped out to congratulate their now new seniors while being bombarded with flowers and love.
2019 left admiring their rings ,leaving their mark that night.
