Things to do for President’s Day in Miami

Presidents’ Day, which is also George Washington’s birthday, is a widely known holiday celebrated to honor our first president and to all others after him. This year, Presidents’ Day brings forth many events and festivals for teens and adults, such as art festivals, shows, and jams! Here are some:

The Miami International Boat Show — for ages 13+ —  The Miami International Boat show is an exquisite 5-day event that exhibits boats and yachts. The boat show takes place on February 15-19 and only costs $25 for one-day pass. It’s at the Miami Marine Stadium Park and Basin and presents the hottest marine products and the lastest boating technology. There will also be educational seminars, meet and greets with some top sailors, and on-water boating classes.

Art Wynwood, is relatively new to Miami’s art scene, but is gaining recognition among art lovers and collectors. It is a beautiful scenery highlighting the hallmark street art and murals. It’s open February 15-19, students ages 12-18 can go in for $15 and for a one-day pass — for adults — is $25.

The Coconut Grove Art Festival is an outstanding event; a weekend filled with live music, delightful food, fun outdoor entertainment, and breathtaking art. February 17-19 on the streets of Coconut Grove and for only $15. Plan your weekend and enjoy this artistic event, the most colorful art festival you will ever attend.

The Haulover Kite Festival is completely free — except for parking which is only $7. The kite festival invites you and your family to the annual event featuring kite building classes, competitions, make-your-own kite, or just enjoy the sight of kites in the sky along with some great music; there will also be refreshments and kites for sale. This wonderful event will take place Saturday and Sunday February 17-18 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at The Haulover Park.

The Monster Jam this year is going to be on February 17-18 at the Marlins BallPark. The tickets cost $40+ and it’s a live motorsport event that features monster trucks. The main attraction is the racing and competitions by monster trucks.

These events can be attended with family or friends. Do something different this year and maybe check out one of these events with your family. Plan your weekend and enjoy it with loved ones.
