A big congratulation to MLEC’s Jaguars! Not only does MLEC have the highest high school graduation rate in the region, but it is an ‘A’ school for the seventh time in a row according to data released by the state.

The last pep rally of 2013 was held last Friday in the gymnasium in celebration of all the good news.

As per MLEC tradition, students filed into the gym and got ready to watch Mr. Parker have his head shaved by SGA Officers and other students who wanted to participate.

At first, the students were a bit shy but before they knew it, his hair and mustache were gone.

“It was so weird shaving and cutting his hair. I was scared because he is my principal! But I think it is pretty cool how he does this in honor of our school and takes pride in it,” said Cesar Zafra, a freshman, who was able to participate in this annual tradition.

Mr. Parker sat on a wooden stool in the middle of the gymnasium and Ms. Castro handed the shaver to the SGA President, Daniella Frissora. After each officer took a turn, Mr. Parker called down other students to join in on the fun.

The last pep rally of 2013 at MLEC ended with Ms. Castro shaving the principal’s mustache!
