The cold is coming, and while you pack away the bathing suits and bring out the jackets, you might realize that you need new décor for the new season. Here are some ways to decorate and cozy up your home for the fall.
Color and Décor
You can play around with different colors and patterns – Plaid is the perfect cozy pattern for fall. Add decorative pillows and a throw blanket to your bed with textures such as velvet, fur and wool –something in a deeper color. Some of this season’s best choices are auburn, pomegranate, chocolate brown, and pumpkin.
Metals like gold, copper, and brass are trending throughout this season and even the slightest combination of metals can make a room warmer, just like richer fabrics.
Autumn Aromas
Using autumn scents is a way to create an inviting environment in your home. Adding a few fall scented candles here and there will do the trick. This season’s favorites are cinnamon roll, creamy caramel, maple pancakes, and spiced pumpkin.
Crafts
Fall dinner parties are swinging into motion and a little autumn decoration is a must. Easy, affordable, and chic do-it-yourself crafts can adorn your home and give it that autumn touch. You can make your own pumpkin candle holder in just a few steps. First, buy a pumpkin proportioned to your candle. Second, trace the bottom of the candle to the top of the pumpkin. Next, carve the circle and empty the pumpkin. Last, you insert the candle and voila!
You can customize your own wreath in any seasonal colors you desire. All you’ll need is cardstock, various shades of fine glitter, spray adhesive, a wreath form, and a wire for hanging. First, cut out a basic leaf shape to use as your template. Cut out approximately 60 leaves from cardstock. Second, divide your leaves into groups for glittering. Spray each group with spray adhesive, coat in glitter and shake off the excess. Next, add a wire loop to your wreath form for hanging. Begin hot gluing the leaves to the wreath form, overlapping the bottom tips. And for the finishing touch, add a bow.
Another way to incorporate fall scents unto your home is by creating your own cinnamon candle. You will need an unscented candle, cinnamon sticks, scissors, and a hot-glue gun. First, measure candle height and cut the cinnamon sticks to size. Second, run hot glue along the cinnamon stick and attach it vertically to the side of the candle. When the first stick is dry, then glue the next stick closely against it and repeat until the entire candle is covered.
With these new ideas you will be in style for this fall season and turn your home into a welcoming safe haven!
