Where’s the Party At? by Rosaly Casanueva

When you’re a teenager Halloween seems too childish of a holiday without egging or teepeeing a house, but it’s a night that can turn into lots of fun! Whether you’re going to a party or trick-or-treating with friends, there is plenty to do for Halloween.

Haven’t decided what you’re going to be for Halloween yet? Well, Zombies are trending and yes, it is thanks to the “Walking Dead.” I wouldn’t be surprised to see Miley Cyrus look-alikes roaming the neighborhoods along with other celebrities. Superheroes seem to always be on top of the list and I expect to see my share of Batmans, Supermans, and Spidermans this year.

Halloween Horror Nights is always a favorite event and seems to attract hundreds of thousands of horror fans from around the world. This year enjoy from 8 new haunted houses: The Walking Dead: No Safe Haven, Resident Evil: Escape From Raccoon City, Evil Dead, The Cabin in the Woods, An American Werewolf in London, La Llorona, Havoc Derailed, and After Life: Death’s Vengeance.

The largest haunted house in Miami is in the House of Horror Amusement Park at International Mall. It features carnival acts, kid’s rides, and musical performances. House of Horror promises you a fun night either with friends or family.

Spend a family fun day at Coconut Groove with their Howl-o-WEEN event. Thursday, October 31st from 2:00pm – 7:00pm, children can begin trick-or-treating from store to store. Clowns, magicians, and face painters will be there to entertain. As night starts to set, get ready to have the time of your life with live DJ’s, costume contests, and amazing food until 3:00am.

Carve pumpkins to decorate the front of your house and have it ready for the trick-or-treaters. If you want to make a day out of it, visit Little Farm Patch in Homestead for a beautiful pumpkin patch…or you can just go to the one right by MLEC at the Miami Lakes United Methodist Church.

The Miami Children’s Museum has a not-so-scary Halloween party if you’re looking for somewhere to take the family. It’s filled with all kinds of fun from a haunted house to tasty candy.

It doesn’t matter what you do for Halloween; all that matters is that you have a night full of excitement with your family and friends.
