By Jonathan Romero

Mainz 05, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool legend Jürgen Klopp is officially retiring after 23 years of being a club manager.  This left football fans devastated. In honor of his legacy, let’s take a look back at what he has accomplished.

“I love Liverpool but I’m just running out of energy. I’m absolutely fine now, but I also know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again,” said Klopp.

In 2001, after Klopp retired as a professional fúbol player in Mainz 05, he decided to become manager for the team on February 27, 2001.

In the 2003-04 season he was able to promote the team to Bundesliga, the highest division in German football. As well as securing a spot in the 2005-06 UEFA Cup. However at the end of the 2006-07 season, the team was relegated. Klopp decided to resign at the end of 2007-08 season, leaving a record with 109 wins, 78 draws, and 83 losses.

In May, 2008, when Klopp became the new manager for Borussia Dortmund, he signed a two year contract even though the team ended with a horrible season. In the 2010-11 season, he was able to take the team winning the Bundesliga title and help defend their title as they won the next season’s title as well. On May 12 he was able to secure the club their first double

However, he decided to leave the club in the 2014-15 season after starting badly. He left the club with a record of 180 wins, 69 draws, and 70 losses.

On October 8, 2015, he joined Liverpool with a three year contract. He led the team to the UEFA Europa League final in 2015/16 and in 2017/18, although both matches ended in defeat.

However, In the 2018-19 season, he was able to win the team their first Champions league trophy. He was also able to lead the team to their first premier league trophy in the 2019-20 season. He was also manager of the month nine times and manager of the season two times. And now, unfortunately, on January 26, 2024 he is officially retiring from fútbol management when the season ends.

Jürgen Klopp was able to accomplish goals in a way that no other fútbol manager has done before. With every club team that he managed, he succeeded even if they were at their lowest. He was able to either promote the team to a higher division or win them championships. He will be honored and appreciated for the impact he has left in fútbol.
