With 12 movies and several shows, Star Wars has had their fans satisfied with content. Created by George Lucas in 1977, Star Wars has continued on to be one of the most memorable franchises of all time, encaptivating viewers new and old.
Disney continues to add new projects to the franchise, such as when they introduced Star Wars fans to a series called “The Mandalorian” through their Disney+ platform on November 12, 2019.
The series was said to take place after the events of “Return of the Jedi,” The Mandalorian told the story of a bounty hunter who goes on to protect baby Grogu, an alien child blessed with the force. Topping Nielsen, Parrot Analytics, and Sambas TV’s ratings multiple times, as well as the 2.08 million who tuned in at the show’s season 2 premiere, it’s safe to say that The Mandalorian has made a name for itself.
With the 3rd season of the show ending on April 19, 2023, fans waited patiently for season 4.
What these fans didn’t expect was that season 4 would not arrive without the news of a new movie between the two beloved characters to come first. It was recently confirmed that the journey will not end between the Mandalorian and Grogu, but will instead continue on as a full length film adding onto the star wars saga.
Not much has been said about the film yet but many have suspected a few things. For instance, it is known that director of the series, Jon Favreau will continue on to produce and direct the movie.
As for much of the possible cast, no one has been confirmed, but theories of possible members to return include actors like Carl Weathers and Emily Swallow. Grogu and The Mandalorian have also been confirmed to be in the movie, but as to who will go on to play the role of the Mandalorian still remains a mystery with the most common suspect being Pedro Pascal, still though nothing has been confirmed.
The film has yet to receive an official release date, but it is said to come out in either 2026 or 2027, having fans to wait quite a while before seeing the beloved characters return. While not much more is known about the film, fans will continue to wait in anticipation for its arrival.
