On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, MLEC and their Class of 2025 sophomores held their first-ever Sophomore Social. At this social, sophomores were able to have food, and games, and socialize with their fellow classmates during the school’s lunch period.
For $3, students of the sophomore class had the ability to buy a ticket to attend and have burgers, chips, and other snacks provided by the students in the Culinary strand. Additionally, there was a DJ playing music and a bounce-house obstacle course where students in pairs of two could compete in a race of who can complete the obstacle course faster.
“It was a really fun experience, I do wish there could have been some more time to get on the bounce house and socialize but for our first time having this event, it was great and I’m really happy,” said sophomore, Barbara Angarita.
When the bell for lunch rang, sophomores swarmed the courtyard to get their tickets and enter the area for the social, which was covered with caution tape so no one that didn’t buy a ticket can enter.
At the tables, Class of 2025 officers Jovanica Civil, Angelica Falcon, Adriana Garcia, and Elizabeth Gonzalez along with class sponsor, Mr. Moffi were handing people their tickets. Sophomores were then able to get into the line to get food made by the students in the Culinary strand.
“The food was great and it was a success, the only complaints I’ve heard were that there wasn’t enough time. I’m proud of all of us,” said Mr. Moffi.
