Disney World is visited by millions of people every year. People travel from all over the world to experience the magic that Disney World has to offer. To keep people coming back year after year, the park constantly adds new attractions, restaurants, and activities. To celebrate its 100-year anniversary, Disney is throwing the biggest event in their history: Disney 100 Years of Wonder. The party will start on January 27th at Disneyland Resort and move to the other parks as a part of the celebration.
Two new nighttime spectaculars will debut on January 27th. The first one is “World of Color – One” in Disney California Adventure. This show will honor and celebrate the storytelling that began 100 years ago with Walt Disney. According to Disney, the show will “celebrate how a single action, like a drop of water, creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change.” On the other side of the country, in Disneyland park, “Wondrous Journeys” will debut. It will have fireworks and projections that feature all of the 60 Walt Disney Animation Studios films.
According to The Disney Food Blog, a new attraction, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, will be opening on January 27th in Disneyland park. Other new attractions opening this year include the TRON light cycle/Run, opening on April 4th, and Journey of Water, opening in late 2023.
It has been announced that a new exhibit called the Disney Gallery Presents: Disney 100 Years of Wonder will open in Disneyland park. The exhibit will showcase artwork that was created by original Disney animators.
“I would just be excited to see how Disney changes and how it fits into the park,” said sophomore Krysty Castillo.
This worldwide event will feature special decorations, food, drinks, and merchandise to celebrate the 100th anniversary. The Disneyland Resort will be decorated with platinum statues and medallions on display. Treats, such as the 100th Anniversary Lemon Tea Cake, will be available at the park.
A new merchandise collection will also debut to celebrate the occasion. The collections include the Disney100 Platinum Collection, the Disney100 Oswald Collection, the Disney100 Decades Collection, and the Disney100 Books.
“What I am most excited for for Disney in this coming year is most likely the treats. I think the treats are awesome,” said sophomore Amanda Noel.
The traveling exhibition will feature artifacts from the Walt Disney Archives and will premiere on February 18th at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. From there the exhibit will visit various cities such as Chicago and Kansas City in the U.S., London, England, and Munich, Germany.
With Disney100 hitting the road soon, many people are looking forward to seeing what Disney has in store for the next year.
