Christmas is undeniably the most wonderful time of the year. Winter break takes a huge part in the enjoyment of this holiday, especially for students. Winter break is two weeks to enjoy the holidays and create new memories. Students tend to look forward to this break so they can de-stress and relax. They hang out with friends, have Christmas parties, and take part in gift giving. But what are MLEC students’ favorite part about winter break?
Opening presents, the brilliant holiday films, and munching on chocolate all afternoon are just some of the amazing things that occur during the Christmas season. 33 percent of parents said their children can wake them up as early as 6am and almost one in six said they usually get woken up at 5am.
“Traveling and opening gifts on Christmas morning would have to be my favorite part, and it’s so refreshing to not have to wake up for school the next day,” said sophomore Melany Alvarez.
Traveling is also a fun way to enjoy your break , but where would you go?
“New York would be the first place I would visit if I could. I love how the streets are filled up with Christmas decorations and colorful lights,” said junior Regina Pelaez .
Baking cookies, huge sleepovers, and Christmas caroling are more fun activities to do during the break.
“My favorite Christmas carol is Michael Buble’s Holly Jolly Christmas. My family and I have this tradition where we sing this song every Christmas Eve,” said sophomore Irvee Jean-Pierre.
Going Christmas caroling can be a fun activity to do with your friends, especially if none of you guys can sing.
The Grinch, Home Alone, Best Man Holiday, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Polar Express are all such iconic binge worthy films. A Christmas party filled with pajamas, baking cookies, and playing games concludes a great night.
Winter break may feel short to some but trying to make it count makes it all worth it. The break can be filled with excitement and happiness but you just need to know how to make it memorable. Just a few more weeks until the break. How will you make it memorable?
