Making a Junior Ring on a Budget

Making a Junior Ring on a Budget

For many students, getting their junior ring is an important part of the high school experience. Many students have been thinking about it since freshman year; It’s one of those milestones that people look back on when they reach adulthood.

The Junior Ring Ceremony is a special event for underclassmen, where they are able to experience the tradition and excitement of having their ring.

“I’ve always been into school activities and have been fantasizing about my junior ring forever. When I attended the ceremony I was confused at first but after I got my ring, went underneath the balloons, and grabbed my flower; I just felt amazing and fulfilled to be there,” recalled senior Roselyn Villanueva.

Yet some students don’t get to go through this kind of experience because they don’t want to spend a large amount of money for a ring. When senior year comes around, they can end up regretting their decision.

There is a trick, however, to creating a nice cheap Herff Jones ring. Mainly advertised is the classic, minimalist, fashion, modern, and vintage ring collections; but what many don’t know is that there are two other great options to make a ring.

The first option is the seabreeze collection. This collection is a twist on the different types of rings offered in the more well-known collections. It is made with lighter material, but still gives off the same finish and is pretty durable. Not only that, but it also gets all the benefits that a junior ring from the main collections receive, like free resizing and replacement.

There is a downside; there are limited customization options and the collection isn’t sold online, meaning it would need to be purchased in person. Nonetheless, the prices are way cheaper, some can cost around $100 compared to the typical $500.

“Honestly it was a steal. I bought my ring from this collection because it was only $220 and everyone I know paid $400+. Plus my ring came out really nice,” expressed Kathia Ricarlo, a senior in the practical nursing strand.

The second option is way more limited and simple but is at a cheap price of $201.95. This is known as the factory special. It includes white ultrium/antique finish band and the students’ official class ring design. Either black onyx, mother of pearl stone or school color stones. Then a smooth top, polish palmside, and initials engraved inside; it also has a lifetime warranty.

Yet again the downside to this product is the limited customization, no online purchase, and no substitutions. However, the pros most definitely outweigh the cons for those looking for an affordable price.

Still, these rings are the perfect option for students who want to experience the Junior Ring Ceremony without having to spend too much money.

“During that time I didn’t have enough money to buy a ring. When I found out about the Seabreeze Collection it was already too late. If I had known about it earlier I would have most definitely gotten that ring,” said senior Michael Hernandez.
