The People’s Choice Awards aired this past Tuesday. Kenan Thompson, best known for his role in the film “Good Burger,” hosted the award show. The red carpet for this year’s People’s Choice Awards was filled with celebrity talent and design, as one would expect. Kim Kardashian was one of the standouts. She was also recognized for her fashionable fashion choices and received a fashion award. During her acceptance speech for the award, she thanked her ex-husband Kanye West for “introducing me to the fashion world.”
Throughout the ceremony, many awards were given out, and many unexpected results occurred. For the best film of 2021, Black Widow beat out top contenders such as Coming 2 America and F9. Scarlett Johansson, the award-winning actress, was named the best female movie star.
Although Coming 2 America did not win Best Film, it did win Best Comedy Film in 2021.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was named the best male movie star for his role in Jungle Cruise, and he dedicated his award and speech to a Make-a-Wish recipient. He also referred to the late Muhammad Ali as “the original people’s champion.”
There were musical performances throughout the night, but the standout was by R&B singer H.E.R. As a tribute to Marvin Gaye, she performed a song from his “What’s Going On” album. It was the album’s 50th anniversary, and it was a fitting way to honor the R&B legend.
For Male Artist of the Year, Lil Nas X beat out Drake, Justin Bieber, and Shawn Mendez. Adele won Female Artist of the Year with the help of her most recent album.
BTS won the Group of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Music Video with the song “Butter”.
Tuesday’s People’s Choice Awards had much anticipation and did not disappoint. The night was full of talent and allowed the people to vote for the best of the best to receive their rewards.
