Zombies, witches and ghosts were all searching around for that perfect scream, while superheroes, monsters, and villains broke it down on the dance floor.
There’s nothing quite like the feeling at MLEC’s biggest event of the year. On Friday, October 18th, MLEC students and their friends got the first taste of the Halloween season as the DJ turned up the music at Harvest Fest.
From pastries to frozen drinks, doughnuts to pizza, corn to chicken wings, MLEC students were treated with a banquet of food as they prowled their way through the halls.
Every club, whether it was the IT Club with their video games or the Robotics club with their robot fights, had a booth at Harvest Fest in the hopes of raising money for the new school year.
Although the music was blasting in the gym, those who wanted to show who was the best dancer headed towards the IT club booth, where they competed with pumping fists with friends at Just Dance.
The famous Harvest Fest jail made its reappearance this year thanks to the Art Club. Friends paid to have their friends arrested for a few minutes; however, these criminals didn’t go down without a fight. Students were screaming as they were dragged towards the bars, while onlookers kept a sharp eye for any police that came their way.
For the 350 brave souls that ventured into the “Hauntitorium,” the experience was indescribable. Put together by the Class of 2015 and the Drama Club, “Hauntitorium” was the first of its kind at MLEC, taking place in the auditorium.
Screams of terror could be heard from the long line quenched outside. Students were so excited that the police had to be brought in to calm the long waiting – some report wait times of up to an hour – and impatient students.
“Harvest Fest was a very fun and eventful night! It had many club stands with delicious treats. The music was amazing and loud. I wish it hadn’t ended so soon,” said Ivarie Melo, a sophomore in the Health Academy.
If students needed a break from the loud noise coming from the gym, they found sanctuary in Key Club’s henna room, where many students emerged feeling refreshed and freshly tattooed.
The biggest event at MLEC managed to once again exceed expectations, leaving students to wonder at how much better it will be next year.
Stephanie Navarro, a junior in the IT academy, definitely had a good time. “”It was a very fun and memorable night!”
