The historically challenged NFL season is drawing to the close as the American Football Conference (AFC) and National Football Conference (NFC) title games await on Sunday afternoon, 3 PM.
This season, the NFL had to make various adjustments revolving around the ongoing pandemic. However, the football league seemed to successfully make it through the season, which is an immense feat.
In just a couple hours, we are to find out who will be traveling to Tampa to play in Super Bowl LV, the 55th Super Bowl that is scheduled for February 7th of next month.
This Sunday’s games include the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs competing for the AFC title — in addition to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Green Bay Packers competing for the NFC title.
Like last year’s conference championship games, these teams have already faced each other once during the regular season. The Buccaneers defeated the Packers at home, during Week 6, with a score of 38-10, while the Chiefs defeated the Bills on the road 26-17.
So as the final games of the year approach, a predictions remain as to just how both conference championship games will likely play out:
Starting with the AFC, the number one seeded and former champions, Kansas City Chiefs, are hosting the second seed Buffalo Bills. This game provides a blueprint for an old fashioned shootout — two of the best offenses in the league going head to head.
Beginning with the current underdog Bills this season has been nothing short of a success. Primarily due to the breakout of Josh Allen, the Bills won the AFC East for the first time since 1995.
In comparison to last season, Josh Allen threw 17 more touchdowns and 1,455 more yards. His completion percentage went up from 58.8% to 69.2%. The Bills have been one of the best teams thus far this season and are prepared to fight head to head against the Chiefs.
Once again, for the Chiefs, the season was successful in claiming the first seed with a record of 14-2. Patrick Mahomes had another spectacular season, and so did two of their playmakers, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. This matchup against the Bills will be tough not only because of the Bills offense — but because of their defense as well. Still, one cannot doubt the abilities of head coach Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes either.
With that said, this game should be coming down to the wire and end really close, in which the Buffalo Bills have a soaring probability of winning and representing the AFC in Super Bowl 55.
As for the NFC, there will once more be another great matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the road team Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With Aaron Rodgers playing against Tom Brady for the first time in the playoffs, this matchup will be more than exciting.
Regarding the teams, both with extremely well off capabilities, the NFL audience will be seeing a hot Packers offense vs a hot Buccaneers defense. Just like in the AFC game, this will likely be a shootout as well.
During last week’s matchup against the Saints Buccaneers cornerback, Carlton Davis held star receiver Michael Thomas catchless. He will have another tough matchup this week against another great receiver, Devante Adams. The Bucs receivers should also have their hands full going against Jaire Alexander. This game will come down to the team who capitalizes on the others’ mistakes and forces a turnover.
Yet, with the endgame, there can only be one winner — and with confidence, that team will be the Green Bay Packers to defeat the Buccaneers and punch their ticket to Super Bowl 55 for the coming Sunday of next month.
So, at the end, the NFL fans will see the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills go head to head on the biggest stage, Super Bowl 55, in Tampa.
Don’t miss out on all the action. First up, there is the Packers vs the Buccaneers at 3:05 EST on FOX — and then Chiefs vs Bills at 6:40 on CBS. We went 1-1 in predicting last year’s conference championship winners. Let’s get it to 2-0 this year.
