MLEC Student Creates Website Where He Shares His Skills In Form of Wallpapers

By Anthony Vidal

Raynolds Romero is a student who enjoys the arts of digital design, photography and editing. On his website, Raynolds Cam, he shares his love for the arts with his original wallpapers for free.

Romero is a junior at Miami Lakes Educational Center (MLEC)  in the IT Academy, Web Design strand. During Thanksgiving week, he launched his website with a collection of the best photos he has taken as an amateur photographer for others to freely use as wallpapers.

“I always liked photography and I have always practiced it as a form of entertainment… but I would get these messages from a lot of people asking me to send them the pictures I took for them to use as a wallpaper. Then I asked myself why not do it on a page where anyone can just download them as they wish,” said Romero.

About Raynolds

Raynolds is a Cuban immigrant who came to the United States at the age of 11 with his family. He takes pride in his art and loves to work on his creations during his free time.

“What drove me to do the page was people’s petition but it was also something I always wanted to do. I feel like it’s a form to give others my work, for others to enjoy it, like a singer dropping a song, or a movie… however I don’t see the point in asking for money,” he added.

For fun, he posts on his instagram account, @raynoldscam, which is filled with pictures he has taken in his journey as a photographer. In addition, as a designer he designs stickers which he prints and gifts to his friends.

“It’s like therapy, designing. When you start designing it is like putting all of your ideas into a project and making it reality. It’s very therapeutic, you start playing with shapes, colors, sizes, photos, editing and you forget about it all, ” he continued.

“Personally I am an extreme perfectionist and any little mistake no matter how small I have to fix,” said Romero.

As he transitions into college, he says he would like to study Photography, Graphics, and Film making. He hopes to be his own boss and have his own company where he explores his photographic talent and also works behind cameras in all types of films.

Raynolds Cam

Raynolds cam was released this Black Friday starring a group of pictures that have a Miami feel to them, featuring beaches, sand, and the hot sun.

As of last month December, Raynolds planned on releasing a new collection of wallpapers that are a combination of photography and graphic design. This collection will be called Anthophobia, and it brings around what he describes as “the dark beauty of flowers”.

“I am currently working on a collection where I implement design and photography , which is what I always wanted to do. I always wanted to unite the two of them and make an aesthetic of all kinds of things; as of now I am focusing on nature and flowers,” said Romero.

Raynolds pointed out how people ask him about his camera and the quality of his photos.

“People underestimate the quality of pictures they can take on their phone. There’s no need to waste 500-1000 dollars in a camera to take a good picture, the most important thing for me other than the quality of the camera is editing… taking a good picture is not out of your reach,” he added.

Raynolds plans on continuing to expand his website in all sorts of ways, he wants to expand the content of his wallpapers and the availability of them.
