What Baking Can Do

What Baking Can Do

By Vanessa Falcon

Store-bought cookies look pretty. Yet, cheap alternatives to cookies fresh out the oven can never match up to the ones baked at home.

Baking during the holiday season not only fills up empty slots of time, but enforces some quality bonding sessions that bring together families and friends.

The pure disarray caused by Covid-19 has been the talk of the world for months now, as there is always news of the said virus across all major social platforms. With such easy access to the internet, people can see all the negativity taking place.

However, that does not mean that the vibes must always elude gloom and uncertainty. The tech we use can also go into looking up fun recipes to try with the oven.

Baking is something that can be done with minimal shopping and spending required. Items like eggs, salt and sugar are a daily thing in the American life. Other items — flour, vanilla extract, sprinkles — can be purchased just about anywhere, even at local convenience stores, and still come with cheap prices.

In the end, buying cookies and whole treats from the store turns out to cost more. With all the tools one can have at home, it is possible to make as many cookies as desired while pursuing a nice hobby. The product might not come out as intended the first time around, but like any other skill, practice makes perfect.

Baking can be done alone — and as well as with a friend. For bigger projects like cakes, a ginormous amount of sweets, or anything the heart desires, extra hands are greatly appreciated. Mixing up ingredients and trying new things can not only bring delectables together but bring people together, too.

Being limited to just old recipes is boring and doesn’t allow for change. Finding recipes online, combining them, as well as adding personal touches to it all is what makes each cookie special.

Holidays this year are not like any other year; but in Miami, holidays were never normal to begin with. To make the most of it, take the time you have and enjoy the few moments you have left of 2020.
