The Nitto ATP Finals concluded a few weeks earlier, marking the 50th anniversary of the tournament and wrapping up professional tennis for the year 2020.
Even though many of the masters 1000 tournaments and Wimbledon Grand Slam were cancelled, the pro tennis players were able to play the latter half of the year and finish with the Nitto ATP Finals.
This tournament includes the top 8 players in tennis that qualified from the rankings throughout the year. The format is done within a round robin in which each player has the opportunity to play one another in their corresponding bracket.
“I actually didn’t know, but Nikolay Davydenko commented on my match on Russian TV. I was so surprised and so happy because he was one of my idols when I was growing up when I was actually already starting to play tennis not so bad, he was there and he was playing unbelievable,” said Daniil Medvedev in an interview with the ATP Tour.
His unorthodox strategies and skills were able to get him the final title of the year to close off the London edition of the tournament and the tennis season of the year.
