Thanksgiving is a holiday set in place to give thanks for all that we have, and although the act of giving is a Christmas tradition, there’s no uncynical way to exhale appreciation while others have nothing to be appreciative of. For this reason, donating to charity services for the whole of this community became an annual Thanksgiving tradition of many.
It’s the season to give, and giving to those organizations is giving to the people. Several non-profit organizations are open for donations this festive holiday as followed:
Feeding America-Feeding South Florida
Feeding America: US Hunger Relief Organization is one of the most well-known non-profit organizations in the country. Feeding South Florida is South Florida’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization that branches from Feeding America, its leading counterpart.
Feeding South Florida guarantees that with a small donation of $1 they can provide 9 meals to those they serve. The people receiving help from Feeding South Florida will be children, the elderly, the working poor, single parents, veterans, and as well the homeless.
Feeding South Florida contributes to families facing trouble due to the pandemic, and the organization also provides food to churches and retail stores that then distribute said food to families.
Other than donating money Feeding America offers Celebration+Memorial Givings where you can send a donation in someone else’s name and in return they get a birthday or other card respective to the celebration from Feeding South Florida. In addition, you can help by starting fundraisers, putting Feeding America in your will, or buying their merchandise.
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital has the purpose of helping children with cancer go through their treatment without charging the patient’s family. In order to sustain itself, this hospital has been executing fundraising activities to emanate community involvement.
For example, City National Bank is having an auction to benefit the hospital. The auction is already open and will close on Dec. 3 when they will have a live night show of the auction and winners.
Donating money is an option to help these kids and the hospital, however other options include participating in their already open Toy Drive & Wish List, buying holiday cards made by patients of the hospital, donating artwork, or just donating objects in general.
Other ways to support include: volunteering, becoming an advocate, or engaging with them on social media.
Animal Services- Miami Dade
Another act of kindness would be giving to animals, you can help pets in shelters even if you can’t adopt them by donating.
Money donated to Miami Dade Animal Service shelters will go to food, toys, sheets, and other necessities and commodities toward the well-being of pets while they wait to be adopted. You can also volunteer in these shelters to help facilitate the job they do at taking care of their pets.
Nonetheless, adopting will imply giving those abandoned animals a home which would obviously be a greater option.
Above all, being able to donate and help others this Thanksgiving is a blessing and it should be the first thing to be grateful for around the Thanksgiving table.
